Viewer Response Have you seen "Robot Stories"? Submit your own viewer response! "This is a film that I will treasure for the rest of my life."I have studied film for the last half of my life. I have watched movie after movie after movie in school, in my leisure time, and even professionally. I get paid to watch movies. After so much moviewatching I can start to get jaded. I usually see everything that's wrong with films and it gets to the point where I ask myself, "Can I even enjoy a film at all anymore?" "Robot Stories" makes me happy because it reminded me that I can still love a film this much. Greg Pak has an astonishingly assured hand at storytelling and the filmmaking craft, and his cast is nothing short of brilliant in this film. Each of the stories that Pak tells in this film is endowed not just with a bona fide passion for filmmaking, but also a sincere compassion and sensitivity for human emotion. The humor, the drama, the social commentary, the tonal subtleties in this film, all carry an absolute sincerity that is rarely seen in filmmaking of any sort today. "Robot Stories" is a film that portrays its emotions with a tenderness and sensitivity that is thoroughly refreshing in contrast to the recent spate of Oscar-grubbing Hollywood films that use their emotions as spectacle. I supported "Robot Stories" every day of the opening weekend in LA, and I Thank you, Greg, for enduring everything you've endured to make this film. You have done wonders to restore my faith in filmmaking, and believe me, that's no small task. -- Eric Hwang, Los Angeles March 16, 2004 11:56 AM |
